Southeast Asia's #1 ride-hailing app, and the most-used way to call a taxi or private-hire car in Singapore. Grab launched in Singapore in 2013 and is now the country's leading transport platform, with hundreds of thousands of drivers and riders.

GrabCar: standard private-hire car — the fare is fixed before you get in, more predictable than a metered taxi.
GrabTaxi: hails a traditional metered taxi through the app, with the fare calculated on the meter.
GrabFood: food delivery across Singapore, including hawker food, chicken rice, laksa, and char kway teow.
GrabPay: an in-app e-wallet accepted at some Singapore merchants.
Payment: register an overseas Visa/Mastercard card for instant use.
Tip 1: taking Grab from Changi Airport into the city is 10–20 SGD cheaper than an airport taxi. Pick up at the designated Basement 1 rideshare zone.
Tip 2: the MRT is cheaper than Grab for getting to Orchard Road, Marina Bay, or Sentosa Island, but Grab is more convenient if you have heavy luggage or it's raining.
Caution: passing through an ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) zone can add to your fare. Check that ERP is included in the app's fare estimate.

Gojek

A Grab alternative that also operates in Singapore — compare fares before choosing. Gojek entered the Singapore market in 2019 and now competes directly with Grab.

Compare against Grab: check Grab's estimated fare against Gojek's in real time and go with whichever is cheaper.
Dispatch speed: fewer drivers than Grab, so matching can be slower during peak hours.
Tip: both apps apply surge pricing late at night (11 PM–4 AM) in Singapore. Checking the last MRT departure time can save you a taxi fare.

2. Subway & bus

Combines Singapore's MRT, buses, walking, and Grab into one integrated route planner. Its Singapore transit data is more accurate and detailed than Google Maps.

Live departure times: shows how many minutes until the next bus or MRT train, in real time.
Multimodal routes: suggests the best combination of MRT, bus, and walking.
Citymapper Pass: buy a Singapore transit pass right in the app.
MRT line coverage: covers every line — East-West (green), North-South (red), Circle (orange), Downtown (blue), Thomson-East Coast (brown), and more.
Tip: the MRT East-West Line from Changi Airport into the city takes about 90 minutes but costs only 2–3 SGD — very cheap.

Google Maps

Covers maps, MRT lines, and real-time traffic across all of Singapore — worth saving offline. Indoor maps are also available for some Singapore malls and complexes.

Offline maps: all of Singapore is only about 50MB — a small city-state means a small download.
Hawker centre search: search "hawker centre near me" to instantly find spots locals actually go to.
Tip: save your route to Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, or Sentosa Island in advance — first-time visitors can find the direction confusing.

Minimizes exchange-rate loss when paying in Singapore dollars (SGD). Card payments are extremely well established in Singapore, so you can pay by card in most places.

Preferred exchange rate: pay at a rate far better than a bank counter offers.
ATM withdrawals: free SGD cash withdrawals within your monthly limit.
Tip: Visa and Mastercard are accepted at most restaurants, convenience stores, and attractions in Singapore. A single Wise card can cover most of your spending.

Revolut

Book popular restaurants: reserve ahead for restaurants near Marina Bay Sands, bars along Clarke Quay, and fine dining on Orchard Road.
ChopeDollars: earn points on bookings, redeemable for discounts.
English support: all Singapore restaurant listings are in English.
Tip: popular restaurants (Red House Seafood, Jumbo Seafood, Restaurant André, and others) can fill their weekend and holiday slots 2–4 weeks out. Book ahead on Chope.
