At a glance

How to manually set APN for eSIM when data doesn't connect.

TL;DR

  • APN (Access Point Name) is the gateway name for data; wrong APN can prevent data.
  • If data doesn’t connect after eSIM install, get APN from provider email/app/support and enter it manually on the device.
  • APN differs by provider—use the value from the provider you bought from.

What is APN?

APN = access point name used to connect to the mobile network. It varies by eSIM provider/carrier; wrong or empty APN can cause data to fail while voice may still work.

iPhone: Settings > Cellular > eSIM > Cellular Data Options > Cellular Network (APN). Android: Settings > Network > SIM > Access Point Names. Enter the APN from your provider and reboot.
