“Right after arrival” checklist (under 1 min)
Check these 6 in order; most issues are fixed.
- Airplane mode ON → 10 sec → OFF
- Travel eSIM line is ON
- Mobile / cellular data line is set to travel eSIM
- Data roaming ON for travel eSIM
- Network selection auto (or manually pick another network if needed)
- Reboot once
Top 3 causes
- Data roaming OFF (travel eSIM often needs roaming ON)
- Data line set to home USIM (eSIM installed but data goes through home SIM)
- Plan not started yet or wrong country (testing in transit, wrong start condition)
iPhone checks (paths)
1) Cellular data = eSIM
Settings > Cellular > Cellular data → select travel eSIM.
2) Travel eSIM data roaming ON
Settings > Cellular > Select travel eSIM > Data roaming ON
3) Allow cellular data switching OFF (recommended)
Reduces unwanted line switching.
Galaxy (One UI) checks
1) Mobile data = eSIM
Settings > Connections > SIM manager (or Mobile network) → set Mobile data line to travel eSIM.
2) Data roaming ON (travel eSIM)
Settings > Connections > Mobile network > Data roaming ON
Advanced: network / operator selection
If auto selection is unstable, try manually selecting another operator. Quality can vary a lot by operator in some areas.
Advanced: APN
Some providers require APN. If provider email/app gives APN values, enter them and reboot.
“Connected but no internet” check
- Turn off VPN / ad blocker temporarily and test
- Test with a simple page like https://example.com in browser
- Test with Wi‑Fi OFF (easy to think you’re on cellular when Wi‑Fi is still on)
Last resort: reset network settings
Only as a last step. May remove saved Wi‑Fi passwords.
Info to send provider if you need help
- Device model / OS version, eSIM plan name / order number
- Current location (country / city), time of issue
- Status bar signal screenshot
- Mobile data line and data roaming settings
