Bolt

The most widely used ride-hailing app in Croatia, operating in major cities nationwide — Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Zadar, Rijeka, Osijek, and more. Especially useful for getting from the airport into the old town, or hauling luggage from your accommodation to the ferry terminal after checkout.

Dubrovnik airport pickup: Čilipi Airport → Dubrovnik old town (about 25km) costs €25–35 on Bolt, more convenient than the airport bus
Split airport: Kaštela Airport → Split ferry terminal costs €20–30 on Bolt
Zagreb: as a major city, Zagreb has plenty of Bolt vehicles, so wait times are short
Watch for Dubrovnik overcharging: beware of "taxi" touts near the entrance to Dubrovnik's old town and the Pile Gate — calling a Bolt through the app is safer and cheaper
Peak-season surge: surge pricing can run high in Dubrovnik and Hvar during peak season (July–August)

⚠️ Note: Dubrovnik is Croatia's most expensive city. Metered taxis sometimes ask for €60–80 from the airport to the old town, so always call a car through the app, or confirm the fare in advance. Bolt's estimated fare is viewable in the app before you request a ride.

A ride-hailing app usable alongside Bolt in Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik. Compare both apps during peak times and choose whichever is cheaper.

2. Ferries — Jadrolinija is absolutely essential

Jadrolinija

The official app of Croatia's state-owned ferry company, founded in 1947 — essential for island-to-island travel along the Dalmatian coast. Connects Croatian islands like Hvar, Korčula, Vis, Brač, Palagruža, and Lastovo, departing from Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, and Šibenik.

FlixBus

Book intercity buses within Croatia and connecting buses to neighboring countries (Slovenia, Austria, Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia). Traveling by FlixBus for routes like Zagreb↔Dubrovnik (about 10–12 hours), Zagreb↔Split (about 5 hours), or Dubrovnik↔Sarajevo (Bosnia) is cheaper than the train.
