Sri Lanka's largest ride-hailing and taxi app, founded as a local startup in Colombo in 2015. It now operates across major cities nationwide — Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Ella, Nuwara Eliya, and more. Options include PickMe Car (standard sedan), PickMe Tuk (three-wheeled tuk-tuk), PickMe Bike (motorbike), PickMe Van (minivan), and PickMe Lady (women-only), so you can choose whatever fits the situation. Being a local app, it tends to have more available drivers than Uber, and local drivers often speak some English too. Both card and cash payment are supported, and your route is shared in real time in the app. From Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport into the city, PickMe Tuk is the cheapest and most fun option.

The route for the "Ella train," considered one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world (Kandy→Ella, about 7 hours), can also be checked on Google Maps. Pre-saving offline maps of Sri Lanka lets you navigate mountain areas (Nuwara Eliya, Ella) without data. The alleys inside Galle's old town (Galle Fort) walls are also great to explore with the map.

A Wise card can withdraw at major ATMs in Colombo (Commercial Bank, HNB, Sampath Bank). If a DCC option appears when withdrawing, always choose to withdraw in rupees (LKR). Card payment works well at upscale hotels and boutique restaurants in Galle, but cash is essential at local markets, restaurants, and for transport.
