Korea eSIM Real-name Registration

ℹ️ This guide only applies to Korean local eSIMs or Korean carrier lines. International travel eSIMs (esimoa global plans) do not require real-name registration.

When Is It Required?

1. New activation of a Korean carrier line (SKT / KT / LGU+)
2. New activation of a Korean MVNO line
3. Some Korea-only data eSIMs (typically operated by Korean carriers)

Required Documents

Korean residents

• National ID or driver's license
• Credit card or phone for self-verification

Foreigners

• Alien Registration Card (ARC) + Passport
• Or Passport + short-stay visa
• Korean phone number for SMS verification (or e-PASS passport verification)

⚠️ If your ARC isn't issued yet or you're on a short-term tourist visa, Korean local line activation may be rejected. Use an esimoa international eSIM instead.

Verification Screen

In the carrier app or sign-up page, follow prompts to photograph your ID and enter personal info.

Typical Steps

1. Reach the verification step during sign-up
2. Select ID type (National ID / Driver's License / ARC / Passport)
3. Photograph the front of the ID (good lighting, no glare)
4. Take a selfie for facial match
5. Verify phone number via SMS (6-digit code)
6. Accept terms and complete

Common Issues

• ID not recognized → Capture all edges square-on, eliminate glare
• Face match failed → Remove glasses/mask, retry in bright light
• ARC not registered → Newly-issued ARCs may take days to propagate; retry after a few days

What About Travel eSIMs?

esimoa international eSIM plans do not require real-name registration. Just scan the QR code and you're connected.
